Capital of Garda Trentino, Riva del Garda is the most northerly town on the lake. An important tourist resort, it is a popular location for outdoor sports such as mountain biking, trekking, sailing and windsurfing. The city boasts important historical and architectural places of interest such as the Rocca, an ancient castle dating to 1124 and now home to the Civic Museum and the city’s art gallery. The Apponale tower, built in the 13th century, is 34 metres high and you can climb its 165 steps to the top from where you can enjoy a great view of the city.
Tenno
A few kilometres from Riva del Garda, Tenno is a small town of less than 5000 inhabitants which is home to the medieval village of Canale di Tenno, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, known for its Christmas markets and typical "contrade" where you can take a step back in time. Nestled between the mountains is the famous Lake Tenno, famous for its emerald green waters.
Arco
The town of Arco is located to the north of the Alto Garda plain. Its main attraction is the Castle which, located at the most panoramic point of the city, offers breathtaking views. Having undergone renovation, it is now one of the most beautiful and evocative monuments in the town. Arco is so-called because of its peculiar arch shape. The city is also the world capital of free climbing and hosts the Rock Master World Championships every year.
Tobole
The town of Torbole is a household name among lovers of windsurfing. The characteristic old town and the beautiful landscape on Lake Garda also charmed writer J.W. Goethe, who spoke about it in his works, describing it as "a wonder of nature, an enchanting spectacle".
